Wheaton Warrenville South football coach Ron Muhitch was selected by USA Today High School sports as one of the top high school football coaches in the country.

Muhitch, who was one of eight coaches selected in the state of Illinois, was chosen by the USA Today staffers after a month of research and conversations with football experts.

Muhitch has been at Wheaton Warrenville South for 33 years and in 2011 received the Illinois Coach of the Year Award by the National Federation of State High Schools Association.

“Coach Muhitch epitomizes what it means to be a coach,” said athletic director Mike Healy in a press release. “He is passionate about helping our student-athletes succeed both on and off the field.  Wheaton-Warrenville South is a better place because we have had Coach Muhitch with us for the last four decades.”

He has won three 7A state titles and has two runner-up finishes since 2006.
